Caleb of Call Me Ahab posted a link to a really cool blog series.
At pistoltraining.com, they ran a feature for 7 months they called "M&P Monday" as they ran a torture test on the Smith and Wesson M&P9 9mm pistol.
62,333 rounds later, the gun had a breakage that caused lawyers to stop the test.
Go read the series. It is a heck of a testament.

Wishing you and yours much love, peace, and happiness!
Had to stop the test after 62,333 rounds?!
Holy crap!
I can't even begin to *fathom* shooting a gun 62,333 *times*! Now I have to rethink my entire position on polymer handguns.
Yea, 62,333 is a lot of rounds.
But on the other hand, there is the Benelli M1 Super 90 that exhibition shooter Tom Knapp used in his live shows for several years that has over 500,000 rounds through it. http://www.tomknapp.net/gunroom/tomsOldBenelli.php
The reason I bought a Benelli Nova is after watching Knapp. I would love to have Super Black Eagle II.
I'm with Wes. I can't even imagine firing that many rounds.
Not that I wouldn't like to try.
It would be the very definition of "FUN".
Caleb shoots with us on the weekends. Great guy. Great link.
Brigid-
I read Caleb's blog every day. Lots of good stuff there.
I would love to have the opportunity to come down and shoot with the both of you.
