What does $126 Million buy
A really expensive relief pitcher.
The "Ace" of the San Fransisco Giants pitching rotation got sent to the pen. Literally. The former starter, who last year signed a 7 year $126 million deal (yes-$18 million a year) was sent to the Giants bullpen today after a dismal beginning this year.
That's all. I just found this really funny and thought I would share the laughter. In the words of Nelson Munce. HA HAW.

10,000!!!!!!
Thats right folks, the Chicago Cubs are only the 2nd team in the history of major league baseball to win 10,00 games, following the NY/SF Giants.
Side note-last year, the Philadelphia Phillies became the first team to lose 10,000 games.
And for those of you keeping track, the "Lovable Losers" have never had a losing record, at least as an overall franchise. If you go back over the entire team history, their cumulative record has always been above .500.
Go Cubs Go!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What a GREAT DAY!!!!
At 12:35pm today, April 21st, 2008, my nephew, who I will refer to as CB, was born to my one and only brother and his wonderful wife.
CB weighed 7lbs 5ozs, and was 18-1/2" long. From what my brother tells me-he has a huge head (he was born C-section). His head is 2" larger in circumference than the average newborn. Takes after Uncle Petey.
Mother and baby are both doing very well, and dad, well dad has a grin so big I could see it through his phone when he called me late this afternoon (no pictures either, I could just tell by his voice).
This is the first grandchild on both sides of their family. The first great-grandchild for grandmothers. We are all ecstatic.
So CONGRATULATIONS to brother and sister-in-law and welcome to the world little CB.
And I think it is a good omen that Cubs won tonight against the Mets in a 7-1 victory, seeing as I know that CB has at least one Cubs outfit.

A Good Tribute
I haven't talked about it yet, but I am a Die Hard Cubs Fan. Have been my entire life. I remember growing up and listening to Harry Caray on WGN-and the "HOLY COW" call. He was the voice of the Cubs from the time I was born until his death in 1998 (he came to the Cubs the year before I was born).
From Holy Taco:
-------------------------------------
It Takes 100 Gallons of Beer To Toast Harry Caray
Cub fan and raging alcoholic Harry Caray was known to enjoy himself an ice cold beer or 20 from time to time. So, to honor his crippling addiction, his restaurant toasted him last night with a record breaking 100 gallon glass of beer.
The 4 foot tall hexagonal glass with a handle and spigot (for serving) will weigh 1,000 pounds when full.
When Harry’s widow Dutchie Caray heard about the record breaking beer, she laughed saying “100 gallons? Is that all? Harry would have considered that an after dinner drink.”
Harry estimated that he consumed over 73,000 Budweiser’s and 300,000 alcoholic beverages throughout his lifetime.
Holy shit! 73,000 Budweisers? That would mean Harry would’ve had a 12-pack a night for 16 and a half years straight. And 300,000 drinks? I’m not even going to do the math on that one. Harry, you are a true American. I salute you and your insatiable thirst for alcohol.
-----------------------------
Now that is a liver we can all be impressed with.
So raise up your 100-gallon glass and join in a gravelly round of "Take me out to the Ballgame."
