History foretelling the future.

Just saw this video and had to post it.

I remember hearing about Alexis du Toqueville's Democracy in America when I was in high school or college, but have never read it. Obviously, I need to.

Simple Concepts

I thought these were simple concepts that were taught in government or civics classes in high school, but obviously, a very large segment of the population doesn't get it.

1) The United States of America is a SOVEREIGN NATION.

2) Our Flag NEVER flies below another.

3) The United States of America bows to NO ONE!!!!!

4) No American President EVER BOWS TO ANYONE, be it king, queen, chancellor, emperor, sheik, cleric, or any other head of state.

That is why, no matter how you feel about anything else he has done, EVERYONE should be absolutely OUTRAGED at THIS:

Millions of American Veterans didn't fight and give their lives so that an American President bow to some king living in a sandbox. I don't care who the hell the President is, you do NOT FUCKING BOW to ANYBODY.

We are the Country that refused to tip our Flag to Chancellor Hitler at the 1936 Berlin Olympics. We are the Country that sent our boys around the world twice to save Europe and defeat the Axis.

And then to add insult to treason, I read this tonight at Blackfive.

The American Cemetery at Normandy has NOTHING to do with special treatment for France. And since the administration seems to have missed history class as well as civics and government, besides the 9,387 American Hero's who never left France, there were over 2,700 British casualties on the beaches.

Beyond Screwed

That is what we are.

We left screwed 3 stops back.

When the Chief of the European Union says what you are doing is paving "the road to hell," we all better be praying they at least use some lube.

Economies of Scale

I saw this this morning, and it did two things:

1) Made me do a double take,

and

2)Pissed me off.

What is one trillion?

It's 0ne thousand billion.

or

One million millions.

1,000,000,000,000

In one trillion seconds it will be the year 5179 (1,000,000,000,000/(60*60*24*365))=3170.9 + 2009= 5179.9.

In one trillion minutes it will be the year 1,904,596 (1,000,000,000,000/(60*24*365)) = 1,902,587.5 + 2009 = 1,904,596.5.

Now put that into cash?

And just for the sake of manageability, lets use $100 bills.

Can you imagine what one hundred billion $100 bills would look like?

Well quit wondering and see what it would look like.

In terms of the spending bill that we were lyingly told was a "stimulus," if the U.S. Government spent $1,000,000,000,000 in the next 4 years, it would be a spending spree of $7,922.02 every second for those four years (and yes, I included leap day in 2012).
And just think, in the 45 seconds it took you to read this post, the government spent $365,490.90.

Just some food for thought.

Standing on Principles

While cruising through the blogroll, I saw a short video on Snowflakes in Hell of Rep. John Boehner making a speech Friday in the House of Representatives about the $800,000,000,000 SPENDING BILL (this pile is not a stimulus).

Well, Sebastian's clip was only 36 seconds and just a clip. When the video finished, I looked at the related videos and found the entire speech.

$30,000,000 for a mouse? What the hell are we doing, giving it its own Disney World? Now, let me clarify-I believe in wetlands conservation and restoration. I am a waterfowl hunter. Wetlands are habitat for one of my passions. However, I am not niaeve enough to think that the $30,000,000 in this bill will in any way stimulate ANYTHING (is it just a coincidence that these wetlands and these $30,000,000 are going to Speaker Pelosi's, a Democrat, home district?) Or $8,000,000,000 to build a rail system from L.A. to Vegas. What the hell for? Oh, I know more gambling money. It sure is handy that the Senate Majority Leader is Harry Reid, a Democrat from NEVADA!

Just listen to Rep. Boehner's speech. Listen as he talks about the "change" in the Beltway.

Power-Hungry Pansises

via Caleb at Gun Nuts Media:

I read this post that REALLY pisses me off.

The Lib-tard pansies that are living on a power trip by being in student "government" have arrived at the most vile decision in their worthless history.

Background: A Marine veteran in Oregon on the campus of Western Oregon University was falsely arrested on a gun charge for carrying a firearm. But the Marine didn't break any laws because he had not possessed the firearm in the buildings, and the prosecutor dropped all charges. However, possession of the firearm on campus is against the administrative rules of the University.

So the charges are dropped, end of story right?

WRONG!!!!!

The goofy do-gooders of the student government had a blood-lust for justice. And this Marine was their target.

So Marine Veteran Jeffery Maxwell was forced to go before a student tribunal in a "trial," which he asked to be public but was denied.

When the kangaroo court issued its "ruling," they slapped this American Hero in the face. Laughing while they suspended him from the University until he:

1. Writes a mandatory “ten page paper” ” with references, “citing, but not limited to:
a) the importance of following the law, even through civil disobedience.
b) the importance of accepting responsibility for one’s actions
c) and recognizing the impact possession of weapons on college campuses has on others.”

and

2. Goes through a "psychological evaluation stating he is not a threat to himself of others."

AAAARRRRRRGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHH!!!!!!

These pipsqueaky little pukes think their shit don't stink.

As far as their "sentencing," let me address it in depth.

For the paper
a)Maxwell did follow the law. Just ask the Prosecutor. If Maxwell would have broken any law, he would have been in jail The prosecutor dropped all the charges as they had no legal basis. Done.
b)Where did Maxwell ever not take responsibility for his actions? Was that when he took responsibility for his own safety? Or when he was serving this Country in the United States Marine Corps?
c) The impact on others? I would wager my entire retirement that had someone like Jeffery Maxwell been on the Campus of Virginia Tech or Northern Illinois University, lives would have been saved. How's that for impact.

and for the psych evaluation, I'll tell you the findings:
Marine Veteran Jeffery Maxwell is an American Hero and the only people he is a threat to is criminals who would try to harm him or others around him.

This demonetization of the best this country has to offer will be a major part of our downfall as a Country.

How can this happen

There has long been a problem in this Country with illegal immigration. Now, don't get me wrong, I have nothing against immigration. It is what has made this Country great. However, illegal immigration is a major factor in our destruction. We have laws that establish the proper way to come to this Country to live or work. Just like every other country on the planet. And while this process may not be perfect, it is the law of the land.

And what do we do with people who break the law?

So how can this happen in these United States of America?

A rancher, who is a former county sheriff's deputy, and a CITIZEN OF THE UNITED STATES is being sued by 16 ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS because he scared them when they were TRESPASSING on HIS LAND.

Roger Barnett has a 22,000 acre ranch in Arizona. When the border patrol started cracking down illegals in border towns, the ILLEGALS started using Barnett's ranch as their super-highway and caused all kinds of problems. They destroyed water pumps and storage tanks. Barnett put in a water spigot on an 8,000 gallon water tank to try and halt the destruction of his pumps. There was garbage 10 INCHES DEEP along the trails, the trespassers killed calves and cattle died after ingesting their garbage. The criminals destroyed fences, stole trucks, and BROKE INTO BARNETT'S HOME!!!!!! Finally, he had had enough. Roger Barnett invested $30,000 in motion sensors and would patrol his OWN PROPERTY for these criminals.

The lawsuit stems from a 2004 incident where Barnett found a group of criminals on his property and confronted them while he had armed himself with a pistol for personal protection and also had his dog with him. When he found these law-breakers, Barnett alerted his family and the Border Patrol.

According the lawsuit, Barnett claims to have turned over more than 12,000 criminals to the Border Patrol. TWELVE FREAKING THOUSAND CRIMINALS!!!!!!!!!!!!! This guy should be given a Presidential Commendation, not be stuck in a baseless court battle. I wonder how many law-enforcement officers can lay claim to 12,000 criminals in 10 years (and that is not a slam against any of our fine law enforcement officers who put their lives on the line every day).

Roger Barnett is a National Hero and should treated as such. And the criminals must be prosecuted.

A note to my friends...

...who live in Rockford, IL.

Please MOVE!!!

When this is the mentality of the police and you live in a state that refuses to recognize the need to be able to protect ourselves, it is time to get the hell out of Dodge.

Regardless of the motive, [Sgt. Sam} Pobjecky advises robbery victims not to put up a struggle.

“Anytime someone demands money from you, you should not resist in any way, especially if they produce a weapon,” he said. “If they are violent enough to carry a weapon, they are certainly violent enough to use it.”

Here's an idea: Take your own personal protection seriously. Learn to protect yourself. Refuse to be a victim and send the goblins to hell.

Dumbest Holiday EVER!!!!!!

What makes a Holiday?

Think about the big 6 (the ones almost every company in the U.S observes). New Year's Day, Memorial Day, 4th of July, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas.

New Year's Day-probably the dumbest primary holiday of the year. More pagan than the others, it celebrates the end of the old calender and the start of new one.

Memorial Day. Traditionally, it is a day to remember those who have given the last full measure of devotion to the Country.

Independence Day. Celebrating the day a large group of slave owners who didn't want to pay their taxes told King George to fuck off. It would be 5 years of bloody fighting and 13-1/2 years before the current U.S. Constitution was put to paper. But if they hadn't, we would still be British subjects.

Labor Day. A day to celebrate the working men and women. Those who make the country strong.

Thanksgiving. A day set aside to give thanks for all the blessings we have in our lives.

Christmas. A christian holiday set on a day to go against a pagan ritual. It celebrates the birth of the savior of mankind. The commercialization of it is a crime.

Some of the other important holidays that are observed.
Veteran's Day. Originally called Armistice Day, it was first a day to remember the end of World War I. Today, we honor all those who have served in out military.

Columbus Day. Honoring the second (at least) man to "Discover" America. And he never even made it to the continent itself.

Washington's Birthday. Honoring the leader of the Continental Army and the first President under the current Constitution.

Lincoln's Birthday. 16th President. First Assassinated President. Preserved the Union.

Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s Birthday. A man who fought for equality for all. A real inspirational figure. A man who wanted his children not judged by the color of their skin but the content of their character.

And for all these real holidays and observances. They have been cheapened. You see, Perry County, Alabama has passed a new holiday for their employees.

Barack Obama Day.

WHAT THE FUCK!!!!!!

So much for judging on the content of the character.

Barack Obama has done a grand total of...

NOTHING!!!!!!

Let's take a look at his national office history. Elected to the United States Senate in 2004 after the Chicago Tribune sued to get his opponent's (Jack Ryan) divorce proceedings made public. The contents involved some details of kinky sex with his WIFE. Obama arrives in Washington in 2005 to assume his seat. 2007, he declares candidacy for President of the United States after promising several times that he was not going to run. 4 years of a 6 year term, and 2 of those 4 have been no service because he was too busy running a campaign. Seriously, what has he done that is noteworthy, other than win one election.

How does this qualify for holiday? What about Gerald Ford Day? Harry Truman Day? Stephen Douglas Day? Chester A. Arthur Day? Woodrow Wilson Day? Buzz Aldrin Day? Jim Bridger Day?

This has to rank in with the dumbest ideas of all time. If I lived in Perry County, I would show up for work anyway just to fight the stupidity.

The Forgotten

In this quagmire year of campaigning, there is one important demographic that has been horribly ignored and/or insulted.

The Angry White Men.

In 2008, Don't Forget About Angry White Men

By Gary Hubbell
February 9, 2008

THE ASPEN TIMES

There is a great amount of interest in this year’s presidential elections, as everybody seems to recognize that our next president has to be a lot better than George Bush. The Democrats are riding high with two groundbreaking candidates — a woman and an African-American — while the conservative Republicans are in a quandary about their party’s nod to a quasi-liberal maverick, John McCain.

Each candidate is carefully pandering to a smorgasbord of special-interest groups, ranging from gay, lesbian and transgender people to children of illegal immigrants to working mothers to evangelical Christians.

There is one group no one has recognized, and it is the group that will decide the election: the Angry White Man. The Angry White Man comes from all economic backgrounds, from dirt-poor to filthy rich. He represents all geographic areas in America, from urban sophisticate to rural redneck, deep South to mountain West, left Coast to Eastern Seaboard.

His common traits are that he isn’t looking for anything from anyone — just the promise to be able to make his own way on a level playing field. In many cases, he is an independent businessman and employs several people. He pays more than his share of taxes and works hard.

The victimhood syndrome buzzwords — “disenfranchised,” “marginalized” and “voiceless” — don’t resonate with him. “Press ‘one’ for English” is a curse-word to him. He’s used to picking up the tab, whether it’s the company Christmas party, three sets of braces, three college educations or a beautiful wedding.

He believes the Constitution is to be interpreted literally, not as a “living document” open to the whims and vagaries of a panel of judges who have never worked an honest day in their lives.

The Angry White Man owns firearms, and he’s willing to pick up a gun to defend his home and his country. He is willing to lay down his life to defend the freedom and safety of others, and the thought of killing someone who needs killing really doesn’t bother him.

The Angry White Man is not a metrosexual, a homosexual or a victim. Nobody like him drowned in Hurricane Katrina — he got his people together and got the hell out, then went back in to rescue those too helpless and stupid to help themselves, often as a police officer, a National Guard soldier or a volunteer firefighter.

His last name and religion don’t matter. His background might be Italian, English, Polish, German, Slavic, Irish, or Russian, and he might have Cherokee, Mexican, or Puerto Rican mixed in, but he considers himself a white American.

He’s a man’s man, the kind of guy who likes to play poker, watch football, hunt white-tailed deer, call turkeys, play golf, spend a few bucks at a strip club once in a blue moon, change his own oil and build things. He coaches baseball, soccer and football teams and doesn’t ask for a penny. He’s the kind of guy who can put an addition on his house with a couple of friends, drill an oil well, weld a new bumper for his truck, design a factory and publish books. He can fill a train with 100,000 tons of coal and get it to the power plant on time so that you keep the lights on and never know what it took to flip that light switch.

Women either love him or hate him, but they know he’s a man, not a dishrag. If they’re looking for someone to walk all over, they’ve got the wrong guy. He stands up straight, opens doors for women and says “Yes, sir” and “No, ma’am.”

He might be a Republican and he might be a Democrat; he might be a Libertarian or a Green. He knows that his wife is more emotional than rational, and he guides the family in a rational manner.

He’s not a racist, but he is annoyed and disappointed when people of certain backgrounds exhibit behavior that typifies the worst stereotypes of their race. He’s willing to give everybody a fair chance if they work hard, play by the rules and learn English.

Most important, the Angry White Man is pissed off. When his job site becomes flooded with illegal workers who don’t pay taxes and his wages drop like a stone, he gets righteously angry. When his job gets shipped overseas, and he has to speak to some incomprehensible idiot in India for tech support, he simmers. When Al Sharpton comes on TV, leading some rally for reparations for slavery or some such nonsense, he bites his tongue and he remembers. When a child gets charged with carrying a concealed weapon for mistakenly bringing a penknife to school, he takes note of who the local idiots are in education and law enforcement.

He also votes, and the Angry White Man loathes Hillary Clinton. Her voice reminds him of a shovel scraping a rock. He recoils at the mere sight of her on television. Her very image disgusts him, and he cannot fathom why anyone would want her as their leader. It’s not that she is a woman. It’s that she is who she is. It’s the liberal victim groups she panders to, the “poor me” attitude that she represents, her inability to give a straight answer to an honest question, his tax dollars that she wants to give to people who refuse to do anything for themselves.

There are many millions of Angry White Men. Four million Angry White Men are members of the National Rifle Association, and all of them will vote against Hillary Clinton, just as the great majority of them voted for George Bush.

He hopes that she will be the Democratic nominee for president in 2008, and he will make sure that she gets beaten like a drum.

You have the Right to Free Speech, BUT....

.....only if you agree with me.

I first saw this at Ogre's.

I always thought that in the United States we have the RIGHT to speak freely. But according to a member of the Student Senate at the University of Wisconsin at Stevens Point, You don't.

When a group of Pro-Life students staged an authorized demonstration with University permission, including a field of white crosses for the children who never had the chance to live their life, another student destroyed their field of crosses by pulling them out of the ground and screaming that the pro-life students didn't have the right to challenge abortion.

What a great mentality to have. You have rights, as long as you don't disagree with me. Sounds like communism.

Let's see, where else we can apply this idea. Press. You can only write what I approve. Communism. Religion. You are only allowed to go to a church who preaches my approved message. And the list goes on.

I have no problem with a good debate on issues, but you cannot ignore the counterpoint.

Personally, I take pride in my ability to at least listen to the other side. When I was in college, I wrote a research paper on the right to keep and bear arms. The professor was a pretty strong anti-gun advocate. However, our opposite views did not affect the merits of the work.

Boycott those

who would violate your rights and privacy.

I first saw this story on Yahoo last night, and then this morning read about it at Joe Huffman's.

Wal-Mart has sidled up to NYC Mayor Michael Bloomberg and decided that they will go beyond the requirement of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives, and now will keep a record database of every gun purchased in Wal-Mart stores. Then they will track guns used in crime, and if they find a gun purchased at Wal-Mart is used in a crime, they will offer up the record to police and if the purchaser tries to purchase another gun at a later time, they will be denied purchase based on this past record. And then to top it off, they will also be video taping your transaction and will provide the video to police as well.

Chris Cox, Director of the National Rifle Association Institute for Legislative Action said it best, "None of these joint Wal-Mart/Mayor Bloomberg initiatives will lower crime, because they ignore the real cause of crime -- criminals." (via The View from North Central Idaho)

This is what happens when the libtards convince the idiots among us that personal responsibility doesn't belong in their communist utopia. You want to go out and shoot somebody? Sure go ahead, it's not your fault, blame the gun. And when your kid misspells a word in school it is the fault of the pencil, and the calculator is the reason they didn't get the right answer on the math test.

Brad Stine says it best.

This, for me, is the final straw. I have had it with Wal-Mart. Already I avoided them as much as possible, but now, I am done. Not going back.

Sebastian of Snowflakes in Hell put this up first, and I did it, too. Tell Wal-Mart they are out of bounds on this. I sent my notice of disdain this morning. My text is below.

Dear Sir or Madam:

I am very disappointed to learn that Wal-Mart has agreed to join forces with an organization that advocates the violation of one of our most essential rights as Americans. Michael Bloomberg's "Mayors Against Illegal Guns" is not about illegal guns, it is about violating the rights of American citizens. The agreement to keep records and video of customers who purchase guns in your stores is nothing more than allowing yourselves to become a back door means to an end that Bloomberg and his associates have not been able to force through legislation. The first step to confiscation is registration, and that is what you are doing. As a seller of firearms, you are already required by law to keep a record for no less than ten years of all transactions. However, to take it upon yourselves to go beyond the requirements of the law and then not only allow but offer up your records is a violation of individuals privacy.

It is because of your decision to violate the privacy of law abiding citizens, and to associate with those who would attack the very foundations on which this country is erected, that I will no longer patronize any Wal-Mart store. This is not just for any firearm, ammunition, or shooting supply purchase, but for all purchases of any goods. I will also encourage everyone I know to do participate in a personal boycott of Wal-Mart.

Fair thee well.
(Petey)
Galva, IL

So, now I call on all of you to join me in a full boycott of Wal-Mart. Don't patronize their stores. Support local businesses, especially local gun shops.

Go Joe!!

Why would a Mayor want the Justice Department to investigate a local Sheriff?

For enforcing the law, of course.

The great Sheriff Joe Arpaio (famous for offering to house Paris Hilton during her jail term in his tent city jail full of inmates in pink jumpsuits) has be cracking down on illegal immigrants and the Mayor of Phoenix is pissed. So he sent a letter to the justice department asking them to investigate Sheriff Joe as the whether he had violated the civil rights in his enforcement of the law.

And the really funny part that is hinted at in the article, the letter was sent on the same day that Sheriff Joe's deputies conducted a raid that was observed by ICE (Immigration and Customs Enforcement) and received their approval of his practices.

This is the libtard mentality of this country. When someone does their job, you don't tell them "Well done," you complain to the FBI.

What about my rights? I know that have have the right to pursue happiness. And my pursuit of happiness does not include pandering to lawbreakers or harassing those that enforce the law.

"Those who do not know their rights, have none."

Go Joe!!!!

Reaks of Bias

It is a good thing that most people in this country are idiots. Otherwise, the everyone would immediately call this article bullshit, like I am. ***Before reading the article, if you have a heart condition or high blood pressure, get your meds, you'll need them.*** Evidently, "AK-47-type guns turn up more often."

Of course the article starts with a horrific incident at a child's birthday party. Then the article starts talking about how the the BATFE "has recorded a more than sevenfold increase in 7.62x39mm guns" since 1993. From 1994 to 2004, there was an "Assault Weapons Ban" in place. And the author tries to surprise you by say that since 2005 the BATFE has recorded an 11 percent increase in AK-47-style gun (whatever that means) trancings. But what they forget to mention is that prior to that, the number of tracing DURING THE BAN, increase by 675%, over the course of the ban.

But wait. How does that work? Weren't these guns banned?

Actually, NO. For those of you that don't know, the "Clinton Assault Weapons Ban" actually had nothing to do with how any gun function. It was all about cosmetics. For the real information on the ban go here, take the quiz on the sidebar.

Next, there is a story about a Miami-Dade police officer who was killed in the line of duty. And how they are not armed to the same level as the criminals. At least the officer get to carry a firearm. Why can't I carry one. Criminals carry weapons, and they break the law. Why am I punished for obeying the law.

And then of course, the author tries to make some really strange connection of an increase in guns and the war in Iraq.

One of the many total bullshit parts of article is when the author actually sites the Brady Center to Prevent Gun Violence. After I got off the floor from laughing. For those of you that don't know, the Brady Center is a political action group trying to disarm America. Using their stats is like relying on Phillip Morris for stats on lung cancer.

And yet another fallacy of this article is when the author tries to address the "power" of the 7.62x39mm cartridge. While yes, this is a very effective round, it is far from a serious high powered cartridge. A 7.62x39mm is good for anti-personnel, coyotes, javelina, other medium sized game. It would be an effective deer round. But probably not great for larger game like elk, moose, and bear.

Disturbing

The Pirate with a Permission Slip had a link to this LawDog Files post, where I found this VERY disturbing story.

Now, I believe I have a pretty strong stomach. When I was younger, I looked forward with great anticipation when the local locker would come out and do on the farm butchering of cattle and hogs. .22 mag to the skull, a quick slice of the throat, and get to cutting. I have seen pictures of people severed in half in car accidents, and the chunks of a body in a wagon after going through a silage chopper. But this story really made my skin crawl, to the point of a slight bit of nausea. And then throw a heaping helping of anger on top.

For those of you who didn't read the story, here is a short rundown. 24-year old Meredith Emerson was out for a walk/run along the area of the Appalachian Trail in Georgia. 61-year old Gary Michael Hilton had spent some time walking with here, but was not able to really keep up, so finally, he got ahead of her and accosted her on the trail with a knife. She fought back, caused him to lose the knife, and he pulled a baton, which he also lost in the fray. The two ended up falling down the side of a hill. Finally, Hilton overpowered Emerson, bound and kidnapped her. She would continue to fight to stay alive for 4 DAYS until Hilton murdered her. During the time that Emerson was still alive, police had named Hilton as a "person of interest" in the disappearance of Emerson. On the first night of her captivity, Hilton raped Emerson. He tried to rob her by getting her ATM card and trying to make withdrawals. Emerson gave the wrong pin number multiple times, still fighting. In the end, Hilton would bludgeon Emerson with a tire iron and decapitate her.

In his interviews with the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, Hilton would give the details of the days, saying that Emerson nearly overpowered him in the initial fray. He talked to authorities about taking walks together during the captivity, claiming she was "free" but if she ran he would shoot her. This case is so demented that Hilton said it was "difficult" to kill her, because they had spent the 4 days together.

One of the telling parts of this story, is a quote from an agent from the GBI:
"That's one thing that broke my heart in this case," Bridges said. "She was doing everything she was supposed to do to stay alive, and we didn't get there in time."

4 days was not enough time. But what about 3 minutes. If Miss Emerson had been armed with a personal protection firearm, this may have been a very different story. Or what if it had happened at an apartment. I live in the country, about a mile outside of town, and 1/16 of a mile from the county line. The only time law enforcement comes by my home, is in pursuit of someone. The odds are that it would take at least 2-3 minutes for the town cops to get to my house, and the county would be 5-10 minutes at minimum. There is a whole lot that can happen in 3 minutes. Or put yourself in a situation that I read in Ted Nugent's "God, Guns, and Rock n' Roll." Picture this. You are in a fast food restaurant in a busy shopping mall, enjoying a hamburger. There is a young woman sitting a couple of tables over. In the blink of an eye, two men grab the woman and drag her out of the restaurant and into the commons area. What would 3 minutes feel like to this woman? What could transpire in 3 minutes? How many people could be killed in 3 minutes? How far could you run in 3 minutes? Could you get to a parking lot? What about with 5 minutes? But, an armed citizen who doesn't panic in a high stress time, could take a kidnapping, or a murder, or a massacre and turn the tables. It is like the attacks at Virginia Tech and NIU. One person armed and willing to take action to protect themselves or others, can and will make a difference. And while we have very good Law Enforcement Officers who lay their lives on the line, they cannot be everywhere all the time.

It is time to Stop Making Victims.

It has probably already happened

Over at IMAO, Harvey (also of Bad Example) has a "Newish Fakery" post up that I would say is actually more divine insight to the future than satire.

So go on over and read "Middle School Student Suspended for Having Gun in Name."

The original story that inspired Harvey's piece is just as disturbing. ***DISCLAIMER*** This is so incredibly idiotic it will make your blood boil.

GAH.....HIPPIES!!!!!!!

I have talked about this before.

And I saw the video somewhere else yesterday but can't remember where for the life of me.

At one of my favorite blogs, In My Arrogant Opinion, a.k.a. IMAO, FrankJ has put a video from "The Daily Show" which is actually mind-boggling, "If Only There Was an Organization Sworn to Defend That Free Speech."

Just for the record, I really, REALLY HATE Hippies.

And the scariest part is that these people actually believe what they are saying. A couple of the strangest quotes,

"So if there were no police, then there'd be no crime?"

"Umm... potentially."

Or

"The Marines, we don't need to be worrying about their rights. It's not an equal relationship."

There is no hope for their future.

Hanky Panky and Liberal Media Bias

Oh what a screwed up world we live in.

New York Governor Linked to Prostitution Ring

The great crusader Eliot Spitzer, Democratic Governor of New York, who made his reputation on fighting corruption, is in hot water. And not for the first time. It seems the father of 3 isn't tapping enough at home, so he has to seek it while on the road. And this on top of a "plot to smear Spitzer's main Republican nemesis," by using the state police to find dirt on the Senate Republican leader.

The Democratic Party in action. Such fine role models for the children.

And did you notice the media bias of this story. Whenever you see a story about a political figure, there is always a (R) or (D) after their name to identify what party they affiliate with. Not this story. Never once is the Democratic Party even MENTIONED. I had to check Wiki to verify that Spitzer is in fact a Democrat. But they didn't hold off on putting in the Republican party.

Update:

Another article has been written following a press conference that Spitzer held. This one has more details on the transaction of the hanky panky, but again, not a single mention of his party affiliation.

A Response to the Shootings at NIU

*I have not posted about this event prior to this time, out of respect for the students and families of NIU.*

On February 14, the lives of thousands of Northern Illinois University students and their families were changed forever when a very disturbed 27 year old opened fire in the middle of a lecture, with a shotgun and 3 handguns.

5 Students lost their lives. 54 shots were fired-6 from the shotgun and 48 from the handguns.

The shooter (I will not use his name, he doesn't deserve to be famous) entered through a door that allowed him access to the stage where the instructor was lecturing from, and opened fire.

Now, I don't know what kind of handguns the shooter used, but I would guess he had to at least change magazines in the handguns at least once. Without having any details of what happened in that lecture hall, I can formulate a hypothesis of what happened.

The whole incident lasted maybe a couple of minutes. The shooter steps out from behind a screen, probably with the shotgun first opens fire. Shoots until the shotgun is empty, with a possible reload. Then he probably dropped the shotgun, pulled the first handgun and fired until empty. And then repeated with each subsequent handgun, probably reloading at least one of them during the spree. The last shot ended himself. When the first shot or two reported panic ensued. The sound of the gunshots breaking through the deafening screams of terrified students. Many would have gone to the floor as quickly as the could, others may have ran for the door. Some may have been so petrified that they couldn't even move out of their chairs.

How it is that more people are not dead, is a miracle.

In the hours and days and weeks that have followed, we have all tried to find sense in what happened. To find closure and and explanation.

Now, we are nearly 3 weeks since that day. Classes have resumed and the students, faculty and family are trying to return to a normal life.

There are two sides of the debate on gun control. Those who believe that guns create violence and that outlawing guns will end violence and crime. And those who know that disarming law abiding citizens will not only aid violence and raise crime, but will allow for the growth of tyranny in government. If you haven't figured out, I am in the camp of the latter.

When this tragic event occurred, I was at Winter Camp, away from all other civilization. By the time I returned home the following Sunday, the anti-gun mayor of Chicago Richard Daley was already exploiting this tragedy to advance his own agenda. Somehow, this shooting is evidence that bullets should be individually serial numbered, .50 caliber rifles need to be banned, and we should only be allowed to buy one handgun every 30 days.

Could someone explain this logic to me? I just can't seem to follow it. First, what would a bullet serial number registered to the shooter have done in this case? Nothing. Where did ANYTHING about .50 caliber rifles come from? Nothing to do with this instance. Would one handgun every month have stopped this shooter? No, he purchased handguns in August 2007, December 2007, and a couple weeks prior to the shooting. But Daley and his cronies would never share that information. They only exploit tragedy and personal loss for personal gain.

The other side of debate. My side. I read blogs and get several newsletters a week on gun rights and assaults on them. There were no instant calls for further gun rights.

I will say this, though, as a college graduate. When sitting on a college campus you feel very vulnerable. During my time, I ALWAYS had at least a pocket knife on me. I ALWAYS have a pocket knife on me. In class, I tried to always sit in the back of the room, basically with my back to a brick wall, and good view of the door(s). I lived in the dorms for one year (I did 2 years at a community college and lived at home, before transferring to University). During the time in the dorms, you are left to be a victim. I had 2 guns on campus, but because I was in the dorms I had to check them into the Office of Public Safety, a quarter of a mile from my dorm, and if I wanted to use them, it took 10-15 minutes to get them. My senior year I lived in an Interfaith House. Great move for me. I had several friends who also lived in the house, and I kept my guns in my room, usually at least 1 shotgun and 1 handgun, sometimes a scoped rifle as well. A little bit more secure.

So I put to you this scenario. A person enters a room full of students and opens fire with a shotgun. The students panic. One student in the back of the room hits the floor, and immediately draws out his concealed pistol. While watching the gunman for an opportunity, he see the gunman drop his shotgun and reach for a handgun. The student quickly rises to one knee and fires 3 quick shots, hitting the gunman center mass with all three shots. The gunman falls to floor. Immediately the student approaches the gunman, maintaining a sight picture for a potential follow-up shot, should the gunman reach for a gun. Out in the classroom there are still wounded, and possibly dead, but less than if gunman had continued to shoot. 2 minutes later the police come in to find the gunman still being covered by the student who stopped the bloody carnage.

Far fetched? In the case of Northern Illinois University and Virginia Tech, yes. But it doesn't have to be. Virginia has laws that allow for private citizens to carry concealed weapons. Illinois does not. Illinois is one of TWO states that has absolutely no concealed carry program. The other being Wisconsin. Even the like of California, New York, and Maryland have a partial program.

The police in this country are by and large very well trained and highly professional. And they take their job seriously. Serve and Protect is their way of life. But, police cannot be everywhere all the time. In rural areas, it can take 10-30 minutes for law enforcement to arrive. At NIU, police arrived in 4 minutes (I believe is what I read, can't find the verification on that right now). A lot happened in 4 minutes.

So here is the Final Jeopardy question. Who in the hell do those stupid politicians think they are that they can tell me and everyone else that we do not have the right to defend ourselves. We shouldn't have to pass concealed carry and castle doctrine laws. We all have the RIGHT to Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness. But instead, the law tells us we are to be victims.
