Well, tomorrow morning I will be on the road pretty early. Out of the house by 6:30 and heading south.
This weekend is the "Les Pays de Illinois Colonial Trade Faire and Musket and Rifle Frolic." A juried pre-1790 event. In order to attend you have to fill out an application with written descriptions and pictures of all your stuff. The Chaussers du Datchurat who run the event check you stuff to see if you meet the standards to attend.
But it is worth it. This is by far the best event in the Midwest. Plus, one of the guys who run the event is a professional gun builder and he makes a custom rifle for the Lottery they hold. It includes a rifle, a shooting pouch, and hunting knife for the top prize. Worth probably $2,500-$3,000. And then they have nine other prizes. Usually a fine Wilde Half blanket, a great coat, and several other quality pieces.
And at night, they have the colonial tavern, with tavern maids serving beer and shrub all night long.
So, see y'all Sunday night.

Contagion has written a review of the event. So where is Petey's?
