Thanks

For those of you who might not have heard, the great Charlton Heston passed away on Saturday, at his home in Beverly Hills. He was 84.

The earliest memory I have of Heston was from watching "The Ten Commandments" on t.v. We even had it recorded on vhs. A couple of years ago, I bought the 50th anniversary DVD. To this day, I still find it to be a powerful message.

And later, I learned to appreciate Heston again as my President. I even had the bumper sticker "My President is Charlton Heston." Yes, I am a proud member of the NRA and have the utmost respect for the work Heston did as the President of the NRA in defense of the 2nd Amendment. He was a tireless advocate and very public presence. He stood up to the worst socialists trying to strip our rights from us. Even allowing Michael Moore to conduct an interview in Heston's home when Moore was making the mockumentary "Bowling for Columbine." It turned into a personal verbal attack. One of the most played images following Heston's passing was from an NRA national Convention, in which Heston raises a fine custom flintlock rifle about his head and proclaims, "From my cold dead hands," alluding to the battle cry, you can have my guns, when you pry them from my cold, dead hands.

Finally, in the early part of this decade, and towards the end of his tenure as NRA President, Heston announced that he had symptoms consistent with Alzheimer's disease. This horrific curse is one that my Grandfather was also afflicted with.

So to you President Heston, is raise a glass to your memory. Welcome home. And to your family, I wish them peace in knowing that you are home.

A couple of other articles on the passing of Heston:
A press release from Wayne LaPierre, Executive Vice President of the NRA.
FoxNews.com article.

And Sorry gun-grabbing loonies. Yes, Heston may be gone, but you will still not be able to pry his guns from his hands, as we have already stepped into the empty spot Heston left and continue the fight.

In honor of Mr. Heston, me and my friends are going to the Tampa Gun Show next weekend. It's the law!
